When four high-school kids discover an old video game console with a game they’ve never heard of–Jumanji–they are immediately drawn into the game’s jungle setting, literally becoming the avatars they chose: gamer Spencer becomes a brawny adventurer (Dwayne Johnson); football jock Fridge loses (in his words) “the top two feet of his body” and becomes an Einstein (Kevin Hart); popular girl Bethany becomes a middle-aged male professor (Jack Black); and wallflower Martha becomes a badass warrior (Karen Gillan). What they discover is that you don’t just play Jumanji–you must survive it. To beat the game and return to the real world, they’ll have to go on the most dangerous adventure of their lives, discover what Alan Parrish left 20 years ago, and change the way they think about themselves–or they’ll be stuck in the game forever…

Filmed in 2016 in Oahu Hawaii and Atlanta, GA . For the 2017 version of Jumanji, we were called in to build 8 bikes that would be ridden by the dreaded “Dragoons”. The Dragoons are the evil army and spend the film chasing our heroes. The scenes original called for minor riding shots, but as the project advanced, we saw the sequences become much more advanced and requiring more modifications. The bikes that we used were Suzuki DRZ 400’s for the single rider Dragoons, and DR650’s for our two sidecar bikes. The DRZ’s are great workhorses, but required extensive suspension upgrade for the size of our jumps and the amount of work we put them through. Cosmetically, they were designed by the Art Directors and fit the characters perfectly. The sidecars presented a fairly difficult problem for us because of the rough riding and jumping required. Because we lacked the time to custom make “moncoque” (one piece frame/sidecar), we modified a road sidecar. After a few test jumps, we were able to fine tune the construction and make it through 8 grueling weeks of filming in the Hawaiian jungle.

The film has been wildly successful, and is currently on track to become Sony Picture’s highest grossing film of all time.
